Google Topics what it is and how to search to end cookies
Goodbye to cookies and the Privacy Sandbox
In 2020, Google announced that it would phase out support for third-party cookies in its Google Chrome browser over the next few years. This revolutionized digital advertising, as advertisers had been using cookies for decades to offer users more targeted and relevant advertising based on their specific interests.
These are the main types of cookies that Google will eliminate from 2022:
Session cookies: These are used to analyse the user's browsing behaviour on a website and create profiles with the content they have viewed.
Tracking cookies: These are used to create long-term records of multiple visits to the same site in order to analyse user behaviour on the site.
Authentication cookies: These are used to know whether the user has logged in and what their credentials are, and store information to facilitate login, such as passwords.
Google's goal is not to end personalized advertising, but to introduce new technologies that offer advertisers functions similar to cookies , but that are more respectful of users' privacy.
As an alternative to cookie-based advertising, Google has launched the Privacy Sandbox project , which aims to reduce incorrect tracking of users while still allowing them to be shown targeted ads based on their characteristics and interests.
Google has announced multiple applications within this project, such as APIs for aggregate reporting, advertising budgeting, and measurement. The most cambodia phone number resource controversial has been the Federated Learning of Cohorts API, or FLoC , which aims to continue to be able to do interest-based advertising.
Instead of tracking individual user behavior (as cookies have done), FLoC creates a series of “behavioral groups” from which conclusions can be drawn. However, several industry players, including search engine DuckDuckGo and browser Brave, have spoken out against it, saying it still poses privacy concerns.

How does Google Topics work?
Topics is Privacy Sandbox's new approach to interest-based advertising . The tool aims to capture the lessons learned and feedback received from the first FloC tests.
With Google Topics, the user's browser determines a set of topics , such as "Sports" or "Travel," that represent the user's main interests over the past week. This information is deduced from their browsing history.
