By 2014, the market size will be $12 billion. Almost half of this amount will come from the United States. In 2011, American advertisers spent $3.63 billion on social networks. 70% of advertising budgets go to Facebook, 5% to Twitter.

The largest resources in this category were YouTube, Mail.ru Group and Gazprom Media (RuTube, NTV.ru, etc.). The picture changes somewhat when it comes to watching movies. According to a survey conducted by the research company Movie Research and the ROMIR holding, 78% of Russian Internet users watch movies using it. Contrary to popular belief, the most popular way to watch movies via the Internet is to visit online cinemas, with 72.2% of respondents watching movies this way. Only 53.7% of respondents download movies, and 33% watch them on local networks. Most movies are watched on the social network VKontakte — 57.9% of respondents admitted this. In second place is ivi.ru (29.5%), followed by zoomby.ru (21.8%).
